fit notes
This tight features a petite-specific inseam. For a longer, regular length option, please view the Winter Bike Tight.

product care
Remove your tights and launder asap for best results as residual sweat may damage the chamois. Wash only in delicate cycle at 86 degrees. Use neutral non-aggressive detergents, keep like colors together and avoid dryers. If you use chamois butter/cream, your garment's ability to wick moisture will be greatly reduced and the durability of your chamois may be compromised. Note: we recommend that you wash new bottoms prior to use.

Reviews

Petite versus regular fit.

"I had to return as I bought them for the inseam but they were very tight. I have purchased other bike tights and shirts in small and love them. The small in the petite were just too small. I exchanged them for regular small. I will say that the exchange was fantastic. Brooke was amazing and the new ones are already on the way."

— Sandra B. (5/5)

Waist way too small

"The size Large did not fit me. I measured the waist on the tights and it was 26 inches. I knew as soon as I saw them, no way they would fit. I am 5’2 and weigh 135 lbs. I wear Terry shorts in size large and they fit well. Unsure why these tights were so tiny in the waist. Disappointing as the length was perfect. Even though they were easy to return I gave it one star because it’s degrading that bike clothes are sized for women who are model thin."

— Mary M. (1/5)

Petite size fits just right!

"Finally you’re offering these in a petite length! The regular length tights were always far too long and I had to double them up a lot at the ankle. These are still a tiny bit long for me, but fine. I’m back on your site right now to order another pair. Thanks for thinking of us petite gals, Terry!!"

— Judi L. (5/5)

Well fitting and warm but slippery

"I really love these tights. They fit great and are quite warm. However, they are very slippery. I have to hold myself in position when I ride or I'll slide off the seat. Making my arms hurt later. Would appreciate any suggestions on handling this."

— Debbie (4/5)

Not enough Tall items

"Why don’t you offer these in Tall? I need at least a 30” inseam and you keep offering petite but the regulars are never long enough."

— Rosemary L. (2/5)

FIT . . .

"A bit long for me at 5'6" - I could have ordered the M"

— Tina L. (5/5)

These Terry winter tights are

"These Terry winter tights are the best! The warm, soft lining kept me warm on a 40° ride, and the high waist kept the tights from slipping down. These tights are comfortable and conform to your body shape, and allow your knees to bend naturally. I like these so much, this is my second pair! The only improvement would be a zipper or snugger fit at the ankle. For reference, I am 5'3", take a size 8 or 10 petite in pants, and ordered a size large."

— Eva V. (5/5)

Fit is true to size

"Fit is true to size and quality is great."

— Joyce M. (5/5)

Good tight for cold weather

"I've worn this tight for a few years, and just purchased another. This has always been a good, comfortable, and warm tight, so I use it in weather from the 40s-50s. This year, the bottoms of the legs have an elastic band on them rather than the cloth covered elastic of the past. I prefer the latter, but I'll keep this one."

— Ann C. (4/5)

Tights review

"Really nice. Fits like the small size through hips and waist with longer legs. Live the warmth. Seat pad pretty comfortable."

Q&A

Questions & Answers

The Winter Bike Tight Petite is built for cold-weather riding, in roughly the 20 to 40°F range, not as a shoulder-season option. It combines Polartec Hardface Wind Pro jersey/velour on the front with Power Stretch Pro in the rear for stretch and moisture management, and Terry describes it as its warmest petite-length tight yet. If you ride in the coldest, most exposed conditions of the season, this is where it earns its place. For milder rides, the Coolweather Bike Tight Petite Length is the better match.

The Winter Bike Tight Petite is cut with a 26.5-inch inseam, specifically for shorter-legged riders who find standard tights too long. If you're average or taller, confirm you actually want the shorter length before choosing it, since it may sit above the ankle on you. Riders needing a standard or longer inseam should look at the Winter Bike Tight in standard length, which offers the same cold-weather construction with a longer fit. Terry's petite cut reflects decades of fitting women across a real range of proportions.

The Winter Bike Tight Petite is windproof and highly water resistant, thanks to a DWR-treated Polartec Hardface Wind Pro front panel whose polymer surface sheds moisture and blocks wind. That makes it well suited to cold, exposed, and damp conditions. It is not, however, a fully waterproof garment, so it won't keep you dry in sustained downpours. If most of your cold riding involves steady rain, the Lupra GORE-TEX Bike Pant is the fully waterproof choice built for those conditions.

The Winter Bike Tight Petite has Terry's premium Fleet Chamois built in, so it's an all-in-one solution with no need to layer over a separate pair of shorts. The Fleet Chamois is seamless with four-way stretch Elastic Interface Technology, a smooth microfiber cover, and soft wing construction that reduces bulk at the inner thigh to avoid chafing. If you prefer to keep your own padded shorts and add only a thermal outer layer, the padless Padless Winter Bike Tight is designed for exactly that.

If your riding is mostly the milder weather typical of fall and spring, the Winter Bike Tight Petite may be warmer than you need, since it's built with cold-weather Polartec fabrics for the worst conditions. Riders focused on shoulder-season comfort tend to be better served by the Coolweather Bike Tight Petite Length, which includes a chamois with moderate insulation tuned for cool rather than cold weather. Choose the Winter Bike Tight Petite specifically for the harshest, coldest part of your season.

The Winter Bike Tight Petite offers moderate compression, with Power Stretch Pro in the rear adding stretch and support. It's supportive and well-fitting, but it prioritizes warmth and all-day comfort over aggressive race-grade compression. For most cold-weather riders that balance is ideal, since the focus in deep winter is insulation and freedom of movement.

The Winter Bike Tight Petite is less ideal for warm-weather riding, shoulder-season rides, sustained rain, or anyone needing a standard or taller inseam. If you want full leg coverage for sun protection on warm days, the lightweight Soleil Bike Tight is the better fit. For 40 to 60°F riding, consider the Coolweather Bike Tight Petite Length, and for fully waterproof protection in steady rain, the Lupra GORE-TEX Bike Pant. The Winter Bike Tight Petite is specifically for cold, windy, damp conditions in a shorter 26.5-inch length.

The Winter Bike Tight Petite is a full-length tight built for the coldest rides, so if you'd rather have knee-length coverage it isn't the right shape for you. Riders who prefer stopping below the knee tend to be happier with the Thermal Hi-Rise Bike Capri, which brings thermal construction in a shorter capri cut. Choose the Winter Bike Tight Petite when you want full leg coverage and maximum warmth in genuinely cold, windy, and damp conditions.

The Winter Bike Tight Petite is an all-in-one cold-weather solution with Terry's premium Fleet Chamois already integrated, so you skip layering tights over padded shorts entirely. That means less bulk, no shifting between layers, and a cleaner fit through the hips and thighs. The soft wing construction further reduces inner-thigh bulk to avoid chafing. If you'd rather keep a chamois you already own and add only warmth, the padless Padless Winter Bike Tight lets you layer over your existing shorts instead.
