product care
Remove your shorts and launder asap for best results as residual sweat may damage the chamois. Wash only in delicate cycle at 86 degrees. Use neutral non-aggressive detergents, keep like colors together and avoid dryers. If you use chamois butter/cream, your garment's ability to wick moisture will be greatly reduced and the durability of your chamois may be compromised. Note: we recommend that you wash new bottoms prior to use.

Does as Advertised

"This liner allows air to flow and provides good padding. It's a little long to wear under my Terry skirt, but I will probably wear it anyway. Too see-through to wear alone."

"Very comfortable and worked well, especially for distance"

So-so

"Personally, I didn't care for the grips around the leg. I would rather wear the Terry Bike Bermuda shorts as a liner. Returned them and ordered 2 more pair of the Bermuda."

— Carol D. (3/5)

Plumtree Liner

"Best liner I have ever worn! Waist is extremely comfortable - no slipping or binding. Great under Mtn bike shorts or knickers. I would purchase it again, depending on how it holds up over time. Thanks for a great product!"

— Jude S. (5/5)

Haven't tested but fits well

"Looking forward to trying it out once wi tee is over!"

— Vanessa H. (5/5)

Excellent liner!

"I really love this liner. I needed more padding and this has it without feeling too large and bulky. It's perfect protection. The waist band is great. It stays in place without rolling down. The material is a breathable mesh. It's perfect for under leggings without adding bulk or under a skirt or shorts. This has become my favorite so far."

— Jane (5/5)

"position of padding seems to be too far forward and not enough in the back. Like the weight of fabric"

Q&A

Questions & Answers

The Plumtree Liner is built for ambitious riders tackling long, multi-hour days in the saddle. It carries Maloja's premium Liberty pad with S.A.T. Shock Absorption Technology, rated for six or more hours of riding time. If most of your riding involves endurance distances or back-to-back long days, the Plumtree Liner earns its place by keeping you comfortable deep into a ride. Worn under baggy or unpadded shorts, it's aimed at riders whose priority is staying supported when the hours add up.

If most of your riding is short or casual spins, the Plumtree Liner is more liner than you need. It's engineered around Maloja's Liberty pad with Shock Absorption Technology for six-or-more-hour rides, so its endurance focus is wasted on quick outings. Riders doing shorter, everyday rides tend to be better served by the Universal Bike Liner, a simpler everyday option worn under baggies. Choose the Plumtree Liner when your rides genuinely stretch into long distances and you want a chamois that holds up over hours.

The Plumtree Liner uses Maloja's own premium Liberty pad, designed in Germany, rather than one of Terry's named chamois lines. The Liberty pad features S.A.T. Shock Absorption Technology and a seamless construction with bonded seams to reduce friction against the skin. This matters if you've come to rely on a specific Terry chamois, since the feel and build here come from Maloja. Riders who want a Terry-designed chamois built for long rides under baggies may prefer the Ultramesh Bike Liner instead.

Riders putting in long hours in warm weather tend to find the Plumtree Liner stays comfortable. It's constructed with an open mesh structure that's quick-drying and highly breathable, so heat and moisture move away rather than building up over a multi-hour ride. Combined with Maloja's Liberty pad rated for six or more hours, this makes the Plumtree Liner a strong choice for endurance riding in warm conditions, where ventilation matters as much as padding across a long day on the bike.

Staying put is exactly what the Plumtree Liner is designed to do over long rides. It falls in the 7-to-8-inch length category, with laser-cut leg ends finished with silicone strips to grip your legs and resist riding up. Paired with four-way stretch for free movement, this keeps the liner stable hour after hour so you're not stopping to readjust. Riders doing endurance distances under baggy shorts value this, since a liner that migrates mid-ride becomes a real comfort problem over time.

The Plumtree Liner provides minimal compression, so if you're looking for firm muscular support on long efforts, set your expectations accordingly. Its four-way stretch prioritizes freedom of movement and all-day comfort over a compressive, muscle-holding fit. For many endurance riders this is the preferred feel, since unrestricted mobility matters across six or more hours in the saddle. If graduated muscle compression is a priority for you, this liner's focus is comfort and breathability rather than support through pressure.

The Plumtree Liner sits at the endurance end of the range, built around Maloja's Liberty pad with Shock Absorption Technology for six-or-more-hour rides. If you want a liner oriented toward long distances but at a more approachable level, the Aria Liner or the Drift Bike Liner cover similar long-ride intent without the German-designed Maloja pad. Choose the Plumtree Liner when the specific shock-absorbing chamois and quick-dry mesh justify it for your longest days; otherwise one of those alternatives may fit your riding just as well.

The Plumtree Liner works worn under baggy or unpadded shorts, and its endurance focus suits long rides. But if your priority is Terry's most technical liner built specifically for wear under baggies or a skirt, consider the Ultramesh Bike Liner, which is positioned for exactly that use. Reach for the Plumtree Liner when six-or-more-hour riding and Maloja's Liberty shock-absorbing pad are what you're after, and the Ultramesh Bike Liner when under-baggy or under-skirt wear is the defining need.

The Plumtree Liner is a padded liner meant to be worn underneath baggy or unpadded shorts, not as standalone cycling shorts. Its open mesh construction and Liberty pad are designed to sit under another layer, so it isn't intended for solo wear. If you've chosen an unpadded baggy short for long rides, the Plumtree Liner pairs with it to add endurance-grade padding. For shorter outings, a simpler companion like the Universal Bike Liner may be the more practical everyday match.
