Description

Our goal with the Rover Short was to provide women with a longer length baggy option that can be easily pulled on and comfortably worn on or off the bike. From Italian bike tours to the singletrack of Montana, it's exceeded our high standards for comfort and performance. Made of a recycled stretch woven polyester, it has an easy-fitting printed mesh waistband and is available in a fresh new color. 2 front zippered pockets secure essentials and the 13.25 inch inseam provides excellent coverage without inhibiting mobility thanks to diamond gusseting through the crotch.

Comes ready to ride with Terry’s padded Universal Liner that can swiftly be removed to transition from gravel to travel.

Puré Comfort

"The high quality material itself, is very light weight and moves beautifully with my leg movements. I also like the longer length of the shorts. I am very happy with my purchase"

— Judy K. (5/5)

why why why are biking clothes made so small

"The fabric is nice, the liner seems adequate. My main complaint is that Terry Cycling does not have inclusive sizing. Yes, I'm aware that you have a very very limited number of styles in extended sizes. My experience, however, is that your sizing measurements are much smaller than what I normally wear. I'm 5'10" tall. I am smaller on top (size 12/14) and usually a size 16 on bottom. Terry sizing is about 2 sizes difference than my usual clothing suppliers. I usually wear an XL and this size fits correctly. In Terry world an XXL fits very snuggly. YOUR SIZING IS RIDICULOUSLY OUTSIDE OF "NORMS. " Please extend your availability in sizes or accurately size your clothing."

Great if you have no curves

"Made for curvy girls. Wish I could return them but I was desperate for a liner so I had to wear the one that came with the shorts which will go in the trash…. . unfortunately."

Rover bike short

"Fit is perfect and I like the length!"

— Edna C. (5/5)

Weird design but comfortable on the ride

"I have been wearing Terry's Liberty bike short for years (and still using), so I was expecting something similar from the images. The Rover shorts are supposed to be the same length as the Liberty shorts but they're definitely longer, they are also much wider - I feel like I am wearing a skirt when I'm walking around. What I don't like is the waistband - it is very high and the ruched design was quite irritating to the skin - I had to pull up the liner as high as possible to protect my skin from the roughness of the pant band. Having said all that, they ended up being comfortable (with my liner adjustment) and cool on the ride (2 hour blue/black Moab, UT singletrack). I wouldn't buy them again, I'll stick to the Liberty short."

— Wendy J. (3/5)

Nice short. Confusing color name.

"The shorts are very nice, just as advertised. Marketing Dept should change the color name. "Black Iris" is misleading since this is actually BLUE. I was very confused between buying this color and Black. It wasn't until I phone in my order that I got clarification."

— Susan M. (5/5)

Sooooo comfy

"Sooooo comfy"

All day fun

"Waist band is wide and comfortable but tight so it doesn't fall. Short length is longer than usual but comfortable for riding in."

— Rita P. (5/5)

PERFECT

"I was forced to stop riding after the Covid virus affected my right lower leg. I have no sensation whatsoever but I did sign up for a spin class and these are perfect !"

— Annie M. (5/5)

I returned them. Did not

"I returned them. Did not like how they fit."

Q&A

Questions & Answers

The Rover Bike Short w. Liner comes ready to ride with Terry's padded Universal Liner included, so new riders don't need a separate purchase. The important detail is that this liner is a separate, removable garment worn underneath the short, not a chamois sewn into it. Its Urban Chamois uses seamless 4-way stretch Elastic Interface Technology with multi-density foam padding, sized compact for a more upright riding position. You can wear the liner for riding and slip it out for other activities.

If most of your riding leaves you feeling too exposed in fitted cycling shorts, the Rover Bike Short w. Liner was built with you in mind. Its 13.25-inch inseam is the longest in Terry's women's short lineup, giving full thigh coverage in a relaxed, non-revealing silhouette. Diamond gusseting through the crotch keeps that coverage from restricting your pedal stroke. For many riders, coverage is the deciding factor, and the Rover addresses it without sacrificing the mobility you need on the bike.

Not at all. The Rover Bike Short w. Liner is styled like regular athletic shorts rather than fitted cycling kit, so it moves and looks like everyday wear. For riders who feel self-conscious in lycra, or who simply don't want to look like they're kitted up, this matters as much as ride comfort. Underneath, the included Universal Liner does the real cycling work with its Urban Chamois. The Rover lets you ride comfortably while feeling like yourself, whether from body image, modesty, or personal preference.

Yes. The Rover Bike Short w. Liner is designed to transition from gravel to travel, in Terry's words. Because the padded Universal Liner is fully removable, you can slip it out and the Rover looks and functions like ordinary athletic shorts, complete with two front zippered pockets to secure your essentials. Riders who commute, run errands, or stop at a cafe mid-ride appreciate that they don't need to change. The recycled stretch woven polyester and printed mesh waistband keep it comfortable on and off the bike.

Riders who spend time on singletrack and gravel tend to find the Rover Bike Short w. Liner a natural fit. Its baggy, non-aero styling matches an MTB and adventure riding identity, and the recycled stretch woven polyester construction holds up to off-road use. The 13.25-inch inseam gives coverage that suits rougher terrain, while diamond gusseting preserves mobility. The included Universal Liner handles the seat-of-the-saddle comfort with its Urban Chamois, making the Rover a versatile choice for casual and off-road contexts alike.

Yes. The Universal Liner included with the Rover Bike Short w. Liner is a separate, removable garment, not a sewn-in chamois, so you can substitute your own padded brief or a different Terry liner whenever you like. This flexibility matters because the included Urban Chamois is compact and shaped for a more upright, moderate-effort riding position. If your rides get longer or harder, you can pair the Rover with a higher-grade Terry liner for more sustained support without buying a whole new short.

The Universal Liner included with the Rover Bike Short w. Liner uses an Urban Chamois sized compact for a more upright, moderate riding position, which suits casual and everyday efforts well. Riders doing sustained long rides or hard endurance efforts often want more chamois support than this liner offers. The simplest next step is to swap the included liner for a higher-grade Terry liner while keeping the Rover you already like. If you're consistently doing long, aggressive rides, a Performance Short such as the Bella Bike Short with its Flex Air chamois may serve you better.

The Rover Bike Short w. Liner earns its place when you want full coverage and a casual, non-kit look. If you prefer minimal fabric and less bulk on the bike, a fitted Fitness Short like the Actif Bike Short may feel better against the leg. If your priorities are road racing, aerodynamics, or sustained fast riding, a Performance Short such as the Breakaway Bike Short is built for that. Choose the Rover if the baggy silhouette and generous coverage are what make you comfortable riding in the first place.

The Rover Bike Short w. Liner comes with Terry's padded Universal Liner included, so it's ready to ride out of the box, which is ideal for new riders who don't already own a liner. The unpadded Rover Bike Short shares the same shell and 13.25-inch coverage but includes no liner, so it suits riders who already own a padded liner they prefer to choose themselves. If you want the flexibility of a bundled liner you can remove for other activities, the Rover Bike Short w. Liner is the version to start with.

The Rover Bike Short w. Liner is best for riders who want full cycling function without looking or feeling like they're in cycling kit. That includes riders self-conscious in fitted lycra, those who prefer maximum thigh coverage, and anyone drawn to an MTB, gravel, or casual riding aesthetic. Because the padded Universal Liner is included, it's also an approachable first cycling short for new riders building their first setup. Its 13.25-inch inseam, zippered pockets, and easy off-bike versatility make it a comfortable, low-pressure way into riding.
