product care
Remove your tights and launder asap for best results as residual sweat may damage the chamois. Wash only in delicate cycle at 86 degrees. Use neutral non-aggressive detergents, keep like colors together and avoid dryers. If you use chamois butter/cream, your garment's ability to wick moisture will be greatly reduced and the durability of your chamois may be compromised. Note: we recommend that you wash new bottoms prior to use.

Questions & Answers

The Nuna Unpadded Pant from Maloja has no chamois. It's designed as a windproof outer layer worn over your own padded bike shorts or tights, not as a standalone padded pant. This matters because you keep whatever chamois already works for you underneath and simply add the Nuna on top for cold-weather protection. If you'd rather have padding built directly into one winter garment instead of layering, the Winter Bike Tight includes a chamois and may suit you better.

The Nuna Unpadded Pant from Maloja is built for cold, wet winter riding, specifically for extending your season when temperatures drop. Its focus is keeping out the cold and maintaining warmth during hard efforts, so it earns its place as a genuine winter layering piece. If most of your riding happens in mild or warm conditions, the Nuna is more protection than you need. For warm-weather leg coverage you'd want a lightweight option like the Soleil Bike Tight instead.

The Nuna Unpadded Pant from Maloja features a 3-layer windproof front panel with premium breathability, plus a PFAS-free, eco-friendly DWR finish that sheds light moisture. The windproofing sits at the front, the area most exposed to oncoming wind and spray as you ride, so you get real protection where it counts while the construction still lets heat escape. This makes the Nuna a practical choice for cold, blustery, damp winter rides where wind chill is the main challenge.

Maloja built the Nuna Unpadded Pant for high-exertion cold-weather activities generally, not cycling alone. Cross-country skiing is a natural fit, and the venting zippers at the upper leg let you dump heat during hard efforts so you don't overheat when your output spikes. If you're a rider who also skis or does other winter cardio, the Nuna works across those pursuits as a single windproof, breathable layer, making it a useful addition to a broader cold-weather wardrobe.

If you want a single winter pant with padding built in, the Nuna Unpadded Pant from Maloja isn't the right choice, because it has no chamois and must be worn over your existing padded bottoms. It's also more than you need if your riding stays in mild or warm conditions. Riders wanting a chamois integrated directly into a cold-weather pant should look at the Winter Bike Tight, while those seeking lightweight warm-weather leg coverage are better served by the Soleil Bike Tight.

The Nuna Unpadded Pant from Maloja uses a wide, pull-on high-rise waistband for coverage and comfort, with articulated knees that move with you and a 30-inch inseam. Because it's designed to go over padded shorts or tights, the cut accommodates a base layer underneath without feeling restrictive. The high-rise waistband also helps keep your lower back covered when you're bent over the bars in cold wind, which is where many riders feel chill creep in during winter.

The Nuna Unpadded Pant from Maloja is a windproof outer layer with no chamois, meant to go over bottoms you already ride in, whereas a padded winter tight like the Winter Bike Tight builds the chamois right in as a complete garment. Choose the Nuna if you already have padded shorts you like and just want to add wind and cold protection. Choose a padded winter tight if you'd rather have one piece handle both insulation and padding.

If you like the idea of the Nuna Unpadded Pant from Maloja as an unpadded winter layer but want a softshell front and a print or pattern, the Rauke Unpadded Tights offer that alternative while serving the same purpose. Both are worn over your existing padded bottoms rather than replacing them. The Nuna leans toward windproof, breathable protection for high-exertion efforts, so your choice comes down to whether you prefer its windproof front panel or the softshell styling and look of the Rauke.

On hard winter rides, trapping too much heat can leave you clammy and cold once you slow down. The Nuna Unpadded Pant from Maloja addresses this with venting zippers at the upper leg, letting you release heat during high-output efforts, paired with a breathable 3-layer windproof front that blocks wind chill. That combination is why Maloja built it for high-exertion cold-weather use like biking and cross-country skiing, where your body runs hot but the air stays cold.
