fit notes
This is a high compression fit. We recommend ordering up a size for less compression or if between sizes.

product care
Remove your tights and launder asap for best results as residual sweat may damage the chamois. Wash only in delicate cycle at 86 degrees. Use neutral non-aggressive detergents, keep like colors together and avoid dryers. If you use chamois butter/cream, your garment's ability to wick moisture will be greatly reduced and the durability of your chamois may be compromised. Note: we recommend that you wash new bottoms prior to use.

Full disclosure- ordered in August

"Full disclosure- ordered in August for winter cycling. Warm weather cyclist looking to mentally prepare for the winter - if that is you then buy these. The fabric is ‘smooth-silky’ with a fuzzy inside but not heavy, padding you would expect from Castelli and plenty of length if you are long legged. I’m 5’8” 145 and carry all my weight in my abdomen so ordered an XL. Fit is good, not binding or snug. Only hesitation is I’m wondering if I should have looked for bibs. These so go a wee lower in the low back, Terry brand shorts give me a higher rise in the waist and I do like that."

I washed before wearing first

"I washed before wearing first time. The fit seems good but the padding is uncomfortable, maybe just not use to it on a 28 mile ride. Will ride in again soon. At this point won’t order another pair. Was hoping to replace my other 2 cold weather 2016 tights but will wait now."

Super Comfortable!

"Love the fit and the warmth of these tights! But not too warm - perfect for 50F days and comfortable for 50+ miles."

Espresso Tights

"Love the fit and the fabric. Warm enough for down to 45 or so. Nice high waist. The chamois is ok, wish the front part was a bit more comfortable."

Q&A

Questions & Answers

The Espresso Bike Tight, made by Castelli, is built for cool-to-cold riding with a stated ideal range of 39 to 59 degrees Fahrenheit. Its warmth comes from Castelli's proprietary Thermoflex fabric throughout rather than a heavy fleece lining, which places it in the cool-weather tier for shoulder-season and milder winter days. If your rides regularly fall below 39 degrees or into genuinely cold winter conditions, a heavier thermal option like the Thermal Bike Tight or Winter Bike Tight will serve you better.

No. The Espresso Bike Tight, made by Castelli, includes the Progetto X2 Air Seamless chamois built in, so it works as a complete all-in-one solution for cool-weather rides. Wearing padded shorts underneath would double up the padding and create bulk and discomfort. If you already own padded shorts and simply want a thermal outer layer to pull over them, a padless option like the Padless Winter Bike Tight is the better match, since it leaves the chamois duty to the shorts you already have.

Yes. The Espresso Bike Tight, made by Castelli, uses the Progetto X2 Air chamois, a long-distance seamless pad designed for comfort on the longest days in the saddle. Its seams are carefully placed to minimize irritation over distance, which matters when you're logging extended cool-weather hours. Riders who want full-leg warmth plus genuine endurance comfort without layering a separate short underneath tend to find the Espresso Bike Tight well suited to longer shoulder-season and milder winter rides.

The Espresso Bike Tight, made by Castelli, offers high compression for a supportive, performance-oriented feel that holds the leg firmly and supports the muscles over distance. Riders who want that snug, race-leaning sensation will appreciate it. If you prefer a relaxed, non-compressive feel, the Espresso Bike Tight may run snugger than you expect, and a tight with moderate compression such as the Coolweather Bike Tight would feel more forgiving while still delivering built-in chamois comfort for cool-weather riding.

The Espresso Bike Tight, made by Castelli, protects against cold through its Thermoflex thermal fabric and adds a reflective tab at the back of the leg for visibility, but its protection is thermal, not weatherproof. It is not windproof or waterproof. If you ride in sustained rain, the Lupra GORE-TEX Bike Pant gives you true waterproof coverage.

Yes. The Espresso Bike Tight, made by Castelli, provides full-length ankle coverage with a 28-inch inseam in size small and deliberately has no zippers at the ankles. That detail reduces bulk and irritation when you pull shoe covers over your cycling shoes, a common setup for cold-weather riding. Riders who combine tights with shoe covers on chilly rides tend to appreciate the clean ankle construction, which lets the covers sit smoothly without fabric bunching underneath.

The Espresso Bike Tight, made by Castelli, earns its place in the 39 to 59 degree Fahrenheit range, drawing its warmth from Thermoflex fabric. If your temperatures consistently drop below 39 degrees or you ride through genuinely cold winter conditions, you'll want more insulation than the Espresso Bike Tight provides. In that case the Thermal Bike Tight, with its brushed thermal interior, or the Winter Bike Tight, built for winter-weight warmth, will keep you comfortable where the Espresso leaves off.

Choose the Espresso Bike Tight, made by Castelli, when temperatures sit in the cool-to-cold 39 to 59 degree Fahrenheit range and you want full-length warmth with a built-in long-distance chamois. If the weather is mild enough that your legs are comfortable in shorts, a full-length thermal tight will feel like too much. For those warmer days, a performance short such as the Chill Bike Short 2.0 or the Breakaway Bike Short gives you the coverage and chamois support you need without unnecessary leg insulation.

The Espresso Bike Tight, made by Castelli, delivers full-leg coverage down to the ankle with a 28-inch inseam in size small, ideal when you want warmth across the whole leg. If you'd rather have your lower legs free while still protecting the knees and thighs on cool rides, a knee-length option is a better fit. A Bike Knicker from Terry's Knicker range gives you that mid-leg coverage with a built-in chamois, which suits riders who run warm or want more ventilation below the knee.
