Chamois
Flex Air Carbon Chamois:
Unique to Terry, the Flex Air family of cycling chamois offers the best shape and construction for women. The Flex Air Carbon is our premium chamois in this line thanks to a high performance fabric made of a blend of X-Tract with special channel structure and carbonium with carbon threading. This combination results in a higher level of moisture transfer, faster drying, natural anti-static and antimicrobial properties, and a softer surface fabric. Seamless chamois with 4-way stretch Elastic Interface Technology provides freedom of movement on the saddle; multi-level foam padding is perforated for increased breathability; soft wing construction reduces bulk at inner thigh to avoid chafing. Made in Italy.

fit notes
Note that this is a high compression fit and we suggest sizing up if you prefer lighter compression.
product care
Remove your shorts and launder asap for best results as residual sweat may damage the chamois. Wash only in delicate cycle at 86 degrees. Use neutral non-aggressive detergents, keep like colors together and avoid dryers. If you use chamois butter/cream, your garment's ability to wick moisture will be greatly reduced and the durability of your chamois may be compromised. Note: we recommend that you wash new bottoms prior to use.

Reviews

Love Bella Prima

"I love these tights for cooler weather. The Bella Prima cut is a perfect fit for me. The red carbon chamois is great for longer rides. I wish they were 2" longer, but otherwise I give them 5 stars!"

— Liz C. (5/5)

Sized up due to full

"Sized up due to full compression. They are fine except no pockets, which is inconvenient, Paid for 2-day shipping but they arrived in six days, Terry refused to reimburse shipping."

— Sharon D. (5/5)

The old ones were better

"The Bella knickers have been a staple in my closet forever. This is my first pair of the Bella Prima knickers. The waist and the updated chamois are fantastic. I find that they run a tiny bit big compared to my Bella shorts, but probably not enough to size down. The leg bands are disappointing. They are not grippy enough to keep the legs in place. They are also wide enough to require the reflective trim to be moved up a few inches conpared to the older style. This combination of design flaws puts the stiff reflective tape directly behind my knees as I pedal, causing weird bunching and rubbing. Theyll be relegated to short rides only. . . what a bummer."

— Arell (3/5)

Good Compression

"Great compression which is what I wanted, the pad is a little too wide and stiff but they usually soften up with several washings. Great bike nicker."

— Toni E. (5/5)

My favorite Knicker!

"My favorite knicker and the only one that I buy repeatedly. It is higher compression so I order one size up so not too tight in the gut. Still plenty of leg compression. Fabric is very comfortable and lasts forever. . . . too bad the chamois pad eventually wears out! I wear these a lot with wool socks when the weather is borderline cold and windy. Normally I wear bibs but the design of the Bella waist is comfor able and forgiving."

— Judith W. (5/5)

Love these

"I still have my original pair from almost 20 years ago - love these knickers"

— Claire L. (5/5)

Perfect capris for my needs.

"I needed a bike Capri with compression. Talked to "Annie" (customer service rep). She is very knowledgeable about the Terry products and suggested these. Perfect for me. I have 2 pair in XS (5'3", 99-101 lbs). They have been great for my bicycle commute (13 mi 1 way), 20-30 mile 'home' rides (hilly, some steep) to our longer C&O Canal rides (about 40 miles). Not sure how many miles I have on them, but it is a LOT! I even use them when we bike around VA Beach. Chamois is getting a bit 'deflated/compressed', but the oldest pair is over 5 yrs old. Ordering another pair"

— Felicity (5/5)

A bit small in the leg

"I sized up, too small in the leg. They would be great for a woman with small legs, sadly thats not me."

— Cheryl W. (2/5)

Product review.

"Well…. wanted to love these…. But after one season, the elastic tape or whatever it is around the calf, is completely stretched out and saggy. Looks terrible. Very disappointed."

— Sandi (2/5)

Not enough padding

"I wrote in to learn which capri bike pants had the thickest padding. I ordered one of the brands suggested and it is woefully thin on padding."

Q&A

Questions & Answers

The Bella Prima Bike Knicker suits performance-oriented women riders who want Terry's top-tier chamois in a below-the-knee bottom. It carries the Flex Air Carbon chamois, Terry's best-in-class pad, paired with French nylon compression fabric that aids muscle support and recovery on longer distances. Riders logging full-day or endurance miles who also want leg coverage, whether for shoulder seasons or sun protection, tend to find it earns its place. Designed and sewn in the USA, it reflects Terry's decades of building for how women actually ride.

The Bella Prima Bike Knicker offers the highest level of compression in Terry's knicker lineup. Its French nylon compression fabric, a 74% nylon and 26% spandex blend, is built for muscular support rather than a relaxed, easygoing fit. That firm hold is designed to aid muscle support and recovery on longer distances, which is why endurance and performance riders gravitate to it. If you prefer a gentler, less constricting feel on the leg, this high compression may feel like more than you want.

If you're new to padded cycling bottoms, the Bella Prima Bike Knicker may be more than you need to start. It pairs Terry's top-of-the-line Flex Air Carbon chamois with high-compression fabric, which rewards riders putting in longer, more intense miles. Riders wanting a gentler introduction with a comfort-grade pad and minimal compression tend to be better served by the Actif Bike Knicker, which offers the same knicker length in a more forgiving, entry-level build you can grow comfortable in first.

The Flex Air Carbon chamois in the Bella Prima Bike Knicker is Terry's top-of-the-line women's-specific pad. It shares the proven shape, foam and perforation construction of the Flex Air chamois but adds a high-performance surface fabric blending X-tract channel structure with carbon-threaded Carbonium. The result is higher moisture transfer, faster drying, natural antistatic and antimicrobial properties, and a softer, breathable surface. For riders doing longer distances, that translates to sustained comfort and dryness where contact matters most.

The Bella Prima Bike Knicker has a 19.5 inch inseam that extends below the knee, placing it on the longer end of Terry's knicker lineup. That coverage suits riders who want more leg protection than a short without the full commitment of tights. It also includes a reflective stripe at the calf, positioned to catch light as you pedal, which adds visibility in low-light conditions. If you prefer shorter mid-calf or capri coverage, this longer below-the-knee length may feel like more than you want.

The Bella Prima Bike Knicker earns its place when you want Terry's highest-grade chamois and firm muscular support in a below-the-knee bottom. If your riding is touring or endurance-focused but you'd prefer a more moderate compression level, the Bike Knicker offers a touring-capable Flex Air Tour chamois with a gentler hold. Choose the Bella Prima when high compression and the Flex Air Carbon pad genuinely match your mileage and intensity, rather than defaulting to the top of the range.

The Bella Prima Bike Knicker is positioned as a sleek, multi-season riding bottom rather than a single-temperature garment. Its French nylon compression fabric with a satiny matte finish works across a range of conditions, and the below-the-knee coverage appeals to riders who want leg protection in shoulder seasons or sun coverage on longer warm-weather rides. If you need genuine warmth and wind protection in cold conditions, a thermal option like the Coolweather Knicker or full-length Coolweather Bike Tight would serve you better.

Riders who want Terry's Flex Air Carbon chamois and high compression but prefer below-the-knee coverage choose the Bella Prima Bike Knicker over its short counterpart. The extra length offers more leg protection for shoulder-season riding or sun coverage without committing to full tights. If you want the same top-tier chamois and compression in a shorter cut, the Bella Prima Bike Short delivers it in the Performance Short format. The decision comes down to how much leg coverage you prefer, not chamois grade.

The Bella Prima Bike Knicker is proudly designed and sewn in the USA at a green energy-certified facility, supporting local jobs and high standards in quality and fit. For riders who prioritize domestic manufacturing alongside performance, that's a meaningful part of the decision. It also reflects Terry's long-standing commitment to construction quality and women's-specific fit, which carries through to the chamois placement and the tailored fit that has made this knicker an essential across many riding styles.
