product care
Remove your shorts and launder asap for best results as residual sweat may damage the chamois. Wash only in delicate cycle at 86 degrees. Use neutral non-aggressive detergents, keep like colors together and avoid dryers. If you use chamois butter/cream, your garment's ability to wick moisture will be greatly reduced and the durability of your chamois may be compromised. Note: we recommend that you wash new bottoms prior to use.

Reviews

Ok - the liner is a winner

"I ordered these for mountain biking and was really unsure about the liner - much thinner than my terry touring shorts. I left a few days after getting these for Moab and brought both pairs. I figured with the Terry guarantee I would find out. I am so happy to report I love them - the shorts are a great length and weight and the liners stay in place and after a couple of pounding hours, they are a winner. Nice to walk around in. I did size up per someone’s review & am glad I did. I am very happy with these shorts"

So far so good

"I purchased the Vista Unpadded Bike Short for mountain biking. I like more leg coverage and the length is perfect. The fabric is lightweight which will be good in the summer with padded liners underneath. Time will tell how they hold up! I would normally have ordered a medium (5'5, 140lb) but I measured myself and ended up buying the large. It fits well."

— Melissa R. (5/5)

Insert not comfortable

"Like the shorts, lightweight and good quality. Insert independent and not attached. Fit like panties and cut unto bilateral inguinal areas and uncomfortable after short 12 mile ride. Will use as normal shorts and also with longer more comfortable inserts."

— Crystal B. (3/5)

I love the fit!

"These are comfortable and cute biking shorts. Best for indoor or gravel biking. I would add a thicker liner for long rides."

— Sharon D. (5/5)

Ultimate comfort short

"Just bought my second pair. Ideal for women who are done with the sausage spandex bike shorts… perfect fit while being so so comfortable… I can’t recommend them enough!"

— Joyce S. (5/5)

Would not wear these off the bike.

"The material is great. I did not. plan on wearing these to cycle. I bought them to hike and was hoping for them to be alittle looser. I returned them due to being more conformed to my body better suited for cycling than hiking."

— Richelle R. (2/5)

Lightweight and Comfy. Go up one size.

"Went up a size since I have large thighs. Normally wear an XL but did a 2XL in these and that worked. Lightweight and comfortable."

— Nicole I. (4/5)

Out of town

"I have been out of town and have not seen them"

— Lisa L. (5/5)

Great for mt biking

"These cycling shorts are amazing. I wear them mountain biking. They don’t ride up. They fit over my protection gear the pan with the cushion in it. I don’t use so I can’t review that. I do want to say that I float between an extra small and a small And I purchased a small I probably could’ve gotten by with the extra small but the small still fits"

— Christina R. (5/5)

Shorts are great

"The short are great: breathable, light, large pockets and the one with zipper in the right place. However the liner is too light on paddling. I thought I will wear them on a short rides but for a nice look took on a longer 40 miles. It was painful on 10 mile but at 40 i was so tired i forgot of their not perfect interaction with Terry seat during the hills. Please, add another layer on lining, we need them!"

Q&A

Questions & Answers

The Vista Bike Short includes a detachable Cyclo Brief 2.0 liner with a reticulated Elastic Interface chamois built into the removable brief. This liner-optional construction means you wear the liner for riding and pull it out for off-bike activities. It's ready to ride out of the box, but the chamois lives in the liner, not the short itself. Once the liner is removed, the Vista Bike Short becomes an unpadded casual short, which is exactly the versatility it's designed around.

If fitted cycling kit makes you self-conscious, the Vista Bike Short is built for you. It reads as a relaxed trail short rather than cycling gear, thanks to its stretch twill weave, faux-fly front, and baggy silhouette that provides real coverage. The wide stretch waistband accommodates and flatters a wide variety of body types with pull-on styling and wrap-around paneling. Terry designed the Vista Bike Short so riders who prefer a non-kit aesthetic still get full riding function through the included liner.

Yes, the Vista Bike Short is designed for versatility on bike and beyond. Remove the detachable Cyclo Brief 2.0 liner and it functions as a regular athletic short with a faux-fly front, stretch woven fabric, and three streamlined pockets, including a zippered leg pocket large enough for a smartphone. This crossover design suits riders who want one short that handles a recreational ride, a commute, and everyday errands without looking like cycling kit the moment they step off the bike.

The Cyclo Brief 2.0 included with the Vista Bike Short uses a reticulated chamois, which is thinner, lighter, and fully perforated for breathability. It's a minimalist pad, ideal for indoor sessions, shorter rides, and moderate recreational riding rather than high-support endurance work. If most of your riding involves longer or harder outdoor efforts where you want a higher-support chamois, a fitted performance option like the Bella Bike Short or Breakaway Bike Short will serve you better. For casual and short rides, the Vista Bike Short's pad is well matched.

The Vista Bike Short suits trail, gravel, commuting, and recreational riding. Its baggy trail cut, diamond gusset for mobility, and 10-inch inseam make it adaptable across many contexts rather than tied to a single discipline. Reflecting Terry's decades serving women cyclists, the Vista Bike Short pairs a casual silhouette with real riding function, so it works for shorter and moderate rides, including indoor use. Riders prioritizing aero road racing or all-day endurance support should look toward a more specialized fitted short instead.

It depends on whether you want to manage a separate liner. The Vista Bike Short ships with a detachable Cyclo Brief 2.0, giving you liner-optional flexibility to ride with the pad and wear the short plain afterward. If you'd rather not deal with a removable liner and want the chamois permanently built in, the Liberty Bike Short or the lighter-fabric Liberty Lite Bike Short offer the same baggy aesthetic with a sewn-in chamois, so one purchase covers your whole riding setup.

The Vista Bike Short comes bundled with its own Cyclo Brief 2.0 liner, so if you already own and prefer a different liner, you may not need the included one. Riders who want to choose their own liner tend to find the Rover Bike Short, sold unpadded without a liner, a more economical fit for that setup. Choose the Vista Bike Short when you want a ready-to-ride package with a flattering baggy cut and the flexibility to remove the liner off the bike.

The Vista Bike Short has a 10-inch inseam, placing it in the longer baggy-short range, so it offers more coverage than a fitted cycling short without reaching the knee. If you want more leg coverage while keeping the same relaxed, non-kit aesthetic, the Vista BTK Bike Knicker extends below the knee. For riders who feel the standard Vista Bike Short length suits them, its baggy trail cut delivers coverage that many riders find comfortable and confidence-building compared with spandex.

The Vista Bike Short earns its place for casual, commuting, and moderate riding where you value a non-kit look and liner-optional versatility. You might move on if your riding changes direction. For longer or harder rides needing a higher-support chamois, consider the Bella Bike Short or Breakaway Bike Short. If you decide you actually want a fitted everyday cycling short, the Actif Bike Short is a natural step. And if you'd prefer a skirt or skort with the same casual feel, look at the Rover Bike Skort or Venture Bike Skort.

The Vista Bike Short's Cyclo Brief 2.0 uses a reticulated foam chamois, an Italian-made Elastic Interface pad with soft wing construction and an antimicrobial cover. Reticulated foam makes the pad significantly thinner, lighter, and more breathable, with full perforation that keeps air moving. This matters because it's a comfort-focused, low-bulk pad suited to indoor and shorter rides. It moves with you rather than adding heavy padding, which is why the Vista Bike Short works best for casual and moderate riding rather than endurance efforts.
