product care
Remove your shorts and launder asap for best results as residual sweat may damage the chamois. Wash only in delicate cycle at 86 degrees. Use neutral non-aggressive detergents, keep like colors together and avoid dryers. If you use chamois butter/cream, your garment's ability to wick moisture will be greatly reduced and the durability of your chamois may be compromised. Note: we recommend that you wash new bottoms prior to use.

Reviews

Meh

"Just grabbed these before a bike trip — not a big fan. Very loose - no compression"

— deborah m. (5/5)

Great for spin class

"Not bulky but enough padding and good breathability for a spin class. Liked so much I bought two other pairs."

— Michele M. (5/5)

Recommend for pure comfort & ease!

"Compression is right up my alley, which is to say COMFORTABLE! Waistband is SO smooth & feels SO good. I am 5’1” 100 pounds & ordered a small, which is perfect!"

— Margaret D. (5/5)

Actif bike short

"I love the Actif bike short, light weight and comfy and sure can’t beat the price!"

— Debra O. (5/5)

Very soft, and narrow chamois

"These are the best fit for me so far. Very comfortable and soft waistband. I find most chamois too wide, this one is narrow and doesn't push into my thighs."

— Alice M. (5/5)

Don't buy if you're short

"I wanted to love these, saw that it was 8" inseam and thought I could still wear them, but not to my knees! The material was soft and felt great on, but the waist band in a S, was too stretched out, no elastic and wouldn't stay put even while just trying on! An XS might work in waist but still too long. Wish designers would consider the vertically challenged athletes out there, not everyone is a model sized AMAZON woman with legs for days!! Need petite sizing in athletic apparel like others. Especially when you're an XS/S in bottoms but larger from waist up but still barely 5'2 with muscular build. Also ordered the only 5" on the site, but it's a very light chamois for training, love the length but won't do for long rides. Sadly returned and still searching!!"

— Swacklb (3/5)

So comfortable!

"Very comfortable. Easy to Don and doff. I love the leg band fit! Not binding and lays down comfortably"

— Lynn C. (5/5)

Comfortable

"I would like just a little more padding on the chamois part, but otherwise very well-made and comfortable. I am happy with my purchase."

— Beth (4/5)

GREAT SHORTS

"I BOUGHT THESE SHORTS, AS WELL AS THE CAPRIS. I LIKE THE COLOR AND FIT. I HAVE YET TO TRY THEM ON A RIDE, SO I CANNOT COMMENT ON COMFORT. I BOUGHT MY REGULAR SIZE. MEDIUM 145 LBS"

— Kim A. (5/5)

Good Addition to Cycling Wardrobe

"Love that these shorts are light weight for summer. Padding is adequate, not real heavy which is probably all right for short rides."

— Cathy K. (4/5)

Q&A

Questions & Answers

For riders trying padded cycling shorts for the first time, the Actif Bike Short is an approachable option. Its elastic-free waistband and elastic-free leg band create a forgiving fit that doesn't pinch or bind, so there's nothing complex to adjust. The seamless Comfort chamois is anatomically shaped for saddle comfort. If cycling shorts have felt intimidating or overly technical before, the Actif Bike Short keeps things simple.

The Actif Bike Short suits riders who want a comfortable, low-fuss fitted short for fitness and everyday riding rather than long or race-intensity efforts. It has a soft 90 percent nylon and 10 percent spandex fabric with minimal compression, so it feels relaxed rather than tight. The pull-on design, with an elastic-free waistband and leg band, gives a smooth fit with no pinching. The seamless Comfort chamois uses multi-density foam that suits general fitness comfort rather than sustained endurance. If your rides are getting longer or harder and you want more chamois support and a firmer, more compressive feel, the Bella Bike Short or Breakaway Bike Short are built for that.

No. While the Actif Bike Short is very approachable for newer riders, many experienced cyclists reach for it on everyday, commuting, and moderate fitness rides where a high-performance chamois isn't necessary. The defining factor is ride type and duration, not experience level. Its seamless Comfort chamois, six-panel fit, and minimal compression make the Actif Bike Short a comfortable everyday choice. Riders who want a simple, no-fuss short for regular riding often keep the Actif Bike Short in rotation long after their first season.

The Actif Bike Short is built for short and moderate rides rather than endurance distances. Its seamless Comfort chamois is Terry's entry-level chamois, using monodensity foam geared to general fitness comfort rather than sustained hours in the saddle. Riders logging long, consistent hours will notice its ceiling. If your rides are getting longer and you need more chamois support, consider a Performance Short such as the Bella Bike Short or Breakaway Bike Short, which are designed to carry comfort through endurance riding.

The Actif Bike Short suits riders doing everyday fitness riding, commuting, indoor cycling, and short to moderate distances. Its seamless Comfort chamois with monodensity foam offers solid everyday comfort for this kind of riding, and the minimal compression fabric keeps it easy to wear on and off the bike. The Actif Bike Short earns its place when you want a dependable, uncomplicated short for regular riding rather than performance training or long endurance days where a more supportive chamois becomes important.

The Actif Bike Short offers minimal compression. It uses a soft 90 percent nylon and 10 percent spandex fabric that prioritizes comfort and ease of wear over a compressive, muscle-supporting feel, and the leg band is elastic-free for a smooth finish. This suits riders who want an easy, relaxed sensation rather than a tight race-kit feel. If you prefer firmer muscle support and compression for harder or longer efforts, a Performance Short such as the Bella Bike Short will feel more purpose-built for that experience.

The Comfort chamois in the Actif Bike Short is Terry's entry-level chamois: a seamless, stretch chamois with anatomical shaping, monodensity foam, and a naturally antibacterial cover fabric made in Italy. The anatomical, women's-specific shaping delivers real everyday comfort for fitness and moderate riding. It's a fit for riders who want dependable protection on shorter to moderate rides. Those planning regular long or endurance days will want a higher-grade chamois, found in Terry's Performance Shorts like the Breakaway Bike Short.

The Actif Bike Short has an 8-inch inseam, providing moderate leg coverage finished with a 2-inch elastic-free comfort leg band that lies smoothly without digging in. Combined with six-panel construction and flat seams that help prevent chafing, this gives the Actif Bike Short a dialed-in, confident fit without race-kit styling. If you want more leg coverage down to the knee, consider the Actif Bike Knicker, which carries the same comfort-focused approach into a longer length.

The Actif Bike Short is a fitted cycling short with an 8-inch inseam and six-panel shaping, so it reads as traditional cycling kit rather than casual wear. If you'd prefer a relaxed or baggy aesthetic while still getting a built-in chamois, the Liberty Bike Short offers a sewn-in chamois in a more casual fit, and the Rover Bike Short with Liner pairs a casual outer short with a removable liner. Both let you ride comfortably without the fitted, kit-style look of the Actif Bike Short.

The Actif Bike Short serves fitness, commuting, and moderate riding well, but a few shifts signal it's time to change. If your rides are getting longer and you need more chamois support, a Performance Short like the Bella Bike Short or Breakaway Bike Short is the natural next step. If you're moving into multi-day or long-distance touring, the Touring Bike Short/Regular is built for sustained days in the saddle. And if you want knee-length coverage, the Actif Bike Knicker keeps the same comfort approach in a longer length.
