Chamois
Soft, hygienic, stretch chamois with anatomical shaping for comfort; seamless, monodensity foam with naturally antibacterial cover fabric. Made in Italy.
product care
Remove your shorts and launder asap for best results as residual sweat may damage the chamois. Wash only in delicate cycle at 86 degrees. Use neutral non-aggressive detergents, keep like colors together and avoid dryers. If you use chamois butter/cream, your garment's ability to wick moisture will be greatly reduced and the durability of your chamois may be compromised. Note: we recommend that you wash new bottoms prior to use.

Reviews

Good for short rides

"These are great for short rides or on/off rides. Not enough padding for anything over 20 miles. And that was actually a bit too long. The shorts have great pockets, are the perfect length on my petite legs and fit very comfortably. Can easily be worn without the padded liner or a different liner."

— Trish (4/5)

Comfortable and cute!

"Bought these in a size S (5'8' F 125lbs) and love the fit and the look! Gives a feminine mountain bike short look while still being practical and functional. Haven't used these for their intended purpose yet (long multi-day gravel riding) but have bought terry products in the past that have lasted me and I've loved. Wish the chamois was a little denser but overall great well fitted short."

— Maya N. (5/5)

Versatile short with liner

"I bought this because I could wear the shorts with or without the liner. They are not quite as stretchy and comfortable on the bike as a more traditional style of bike short, but I'm keeping them because I like to wear the shorts alone and/or wear the liner under other shorts. They run a little smaller than other Terry brand shorts--I had to order up one size. Love the lilac color!"

— Kimberley A. (4/5)

Overall, I love these shorts.

"Overall, I love these shorts. Perfect length for me and very comfortable. Had them in a different color and found these so had to buy them. I'd buy more in other colors if they existed. The pockets are perfect also, in my opinion."

— Dawn S. (5/5)

Comfortable

"Great fit and comfortable with or without the bike liner. Would buy again!"

— Pam L. (5/5)

Metro short 7

"Comfortable short, padding is not bulky. True to size. My only complaint is that the outer short layer rides up to reveal the black inner layer when peddling."

— Kris G. (4/5)

The 7" and Regular Shorts Do Not Fit the Same

"I love the 7" short. I'm not a fan of baggy, saggy, droopy mountain bike shorts. The medium fits perfectly (5'10", 136 lbs). Finally, a pair of shorts that don't have a huge gap in the waist. Other reviews mention that the liner rides up, but the legs don't ride up any more than my road shorts naturally do. The thickness is perfect for an mtb ride, and the shape makes them appropriate for running errands on my bike or going to lunch after a ride (after removing the liner after a ride, of course). I liked them so much, I bought the regular length, too, hoping it would be sized equivalently, just longer. Not so. There is a gap at the waist, and the whole short is roomier. Womp womp. I'll still use them, but not with the same enthusiasm nor regularity as the shorter one. 5 stars for the 7", 3 stars for the long length."

WHEN WILL XS BE BACK IN STOCK

"I would really like to see this available again"

— Kendra S. (5/5)

Cute but run very small

"These are cute but way too small. I sized up from my regular size and and these were just too small around the waist. I sent them back"

— Tammie G. (3/5)

Metro 7 Short Meets All My Needs & Wants

"The material of this short is flexible, durable, and smooth [no roughness rubbing skin or chaffing]. The length is ideal, covering a traditional chamois but not so long as to extend far beyond. I appreciate the functional femininity of the style and materials. The pockets are convenient; they are deep so contents don't fall out, roomy enough to not be bulky when filled, and the side zipper pocket provides additional secure storage in non-restricting location."

Q&A

Questions & Answers

The Metro 7 inch Bike Short comes ready to ride. It includes a new Universal 5-inch liner built specifically for this short, using the Urban chamois. That means one purchase covers your full riding setup, with no separate liner to source. For a rider who wants cycling functionality without assembling pieces, the Metro 7 inch Bike Short removes that step. The liner is detachable, so you can wear the outer short on its own for non-cycling activities when you don't need padding.

The Metro 7 inch Bike Short uses the Urban chamois, a compact, seamless pad with multi-density foam and 4-way stretch Elastic Interface Technology, made in Italy. It's deliberately shorter front to back and less bulky, designed for a more upright commuter-style position rather than long endurance distances. If most of your riding is commuting, fitness loops, or casual outings, the Urban chamois in the Metro 7 inch Bike Short suits that well. Riders doing longer, harder rides who need heavier support tend to be better served by a fitted performance short.

The Metro 7 inch Bike Short is for women who want full cycling functionality without looking or feeling like they're wearing fitted cycling kit. It's built to read like a normal short, with a flatteringly curved back panel, embroidered bike detail, and an included Universal 5-inch liner. It fits commuters, fitness riders, and casual riders who prefer a non-kit aesthetic and ride in a more upright position. If you want to be ready to ride out of the box without managing a separate liner, the Metro 7 inch Bike Short answers that directly.

Yes. The Metro 7 inch Bike Short is designed to look and feel like an everyday short rather than fitted cycling kit, which makes it a natural choice for riders who feel self-conscious in form-fitting apparel. It has a relaxed silhouette, a curved back panel, reflective piping, and embroidered detailing, so it reads as a casual short off the bike. The included Universal liner handles the cycling function underneath. For a rider whose hesitation is about being seen in kit, the Metro 7 inch Bike Short removes that barrier.

The Metro 7 inch Bike Short has a 7-inch inseam, which sits at the shorter end of the Metro range. It gives you a cropped, everyday-short look with cycling function built in through its included liner. If you want more leg coverage while keeping the same casual, non-kit aesthetic, Terry offers below-the-knee options such as the Metro Below the Knee Bike Capri. Choosing between them comes down to how much leg you want covered; the Metro 7 inch Bike Short is the choice for a shorter, lighter-feeling cut.

The Metro 7 inch Bike Short comes bundled with its Universal 5-inch liner, so it's built for riders who want everything included. If you already own a liner or brief you prefer and want to choose your own chamois, the Metro 7 SOLO Bike Short is the standalone version sold without the bundled liner. That lets you pair the same relaxed Metro outer with whatever padding you ride best in. The decision is simply whether you want a ready-to-ride setup or control over your own liner.

The Metro 7 inch Bike Short earns its place for commuting, fitness, and casual riding in a more upright position, where the compact Urban chamois provides the right support. If your rides are getting longer or harder and you want more chamois padding and a fitted, aerodynamic cut, that's the signal to move toward Terry's Performance Short range, starting with the Bella Bike Short or Breakaway Bike Short. Those are built around higher-support chamois for endurance distances, something the Metro 7 inch Bike Short's commuter-focused design isn't intended to deliver.

Yes. The Metro 7 inch Bike Short has two front hand pockets plus a zippered leg pocket on the left leg, which support everyday carry for keys, a phone, or ride essentials. It also features bonded reflective trim on the lower rear left leg and reflective piping for added visibility. These details make the Metro 7 inch Bike Short practical for commuting and errands, where you want storage and to be seen, not just a pad. The recycled stretch woven fabric keeps it looking like a normal short throughout.

The Metro 7 inch Bike Short is made in an eco-friendly recycled stretch woven fabric, giving it a natural, everyday-short appearance with the movement you need on the bike. The design adds reflective trim and embroidered bike detailing for a finished, non-kit look. For riders who care about sustainable materials and want a short that doesn't broadcast cycling, the recycled fabric of the Metro 7 inch Bike Short supports both. The stretch woven construction keeps it comfortable through pedaling while holding its casual shape off the bike.
